Green streets

We want a capital with green streets, which are pleasant, safe and attractive for people to use

CPRE London advocates for ‘compact, efficient cities’ with strong Green Belt protections, which are low-carbon. Our capital should have green streets, where people get around by public transport, walking and cycling and can live close to jobs and amenities. Parks and green spaces should be protected for health, recreation, sport and nature. And we should be doing our bit to mitigate the effects of climate change.

We want to create compact cities by using land efficiently, recycling sites in need of regeneration, using space better and moving away from car use, which is space-inefficient and has other unwelcome impacts, including air pollution and noise.
