It’s National Tree Week 2024 from November 23 – December 1 – a chance to celebrate all things trees!

This event marks the traditional start of the winter tree planting. Trees are dormant and so experience the least stress when being placed in their new homes – to hopefully thrive into maturity.

Welcoming Tree Week, CPRE Director Anna Taylor said trees brought widespread nature, wellbeing and biodiversity benefits.

‘Urgent action is needed to address the climate and biodiversity crisis and get more trees in the ground,’ she said.

‘We also look to strengthen protection for existing trees that are delivering now, in terms of carbon capture and storage.’

CPRE London campaigns to protect green spaces, and plant trees and hedgerows to help safeguard our countryside. Our M25 of trees programme aims to create more woodland, especially species-rich woodland, in London.  This area is the biggest opportunity in the capital for increasing tree canopy cover.

We also work closely with our partners to expand areas of natural hedgerow. To get involved, please visit Green space for all – CPRE London
